Thomas “Tom” James has been involved in numerous forms of emergency response since 1984 when he was employed fighting wild fires in the northern part of the Province of British Columbia, (BC) Canada and throughout his policing career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Starting in 2010, Tom James has been part of the Langley, BC Emergency Program in advance planning and operations for the police operations in the Emergency Operations Centre for the City and the Township of Langley. Tom is responsible for the development of the police response plans for major events in the communities, including “Freshet” preparation, earthquake and evacuation training. He also co-ordinates emergency response training with other public and private organizations for disaster responses. He is also the Search Commander for Search and Rescue Operations in Langley and a highly valued member of the 3Ci Global Solutions total risk management voluntary independent advisory board.
In addition to his police training, Tom has also completed the Emergency Management Certification with the Justice Institute of British Columbia. Tom also has a bachelorette in General Studies for Police Leadership from the University of the Fraser Valley. Tom James was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Medal for his community involvement through work and through his voluntary community service.
As a highly experienced CMTV Director of Technical Support Services, Tom leads on many CMTV programs and is a technical analyst on all Policing and Community related safety issues.
